Rochdale SFC Principle Julian Appleyard and Oulder Hill Student Rachel Marsden
Rachel Marsden, a year 11 student at Oulder Hill Community School and Language College, picked up more than ideas on what do after her GCSEs when she visited the Future First event at Rochdale Town Hall at the end of last year - she also scooped a brand new iPad in a prize draw by one of the exhibitors, Rochdale Sixth Form College.
Rachel, who was presented her prize this week by College Principal, Julian Appleyard, has applied to Rochdale Sixth Form College to study for A-levels in Applied Business, Law, PE and Dance in September.
She was thrilled with her prize: “I was so excited to hear I’d won the iPad, it’ll come in really handy for my school work, as well as being great for catching up on films, and keeping in touch with friends; and having been back into College to pick up the prize, I can’t wait to start in September. It’s got a really nice feel about it and I’ve heard lots of good stuff about the courses and the teachers.”
Mr Appleyard added: “It was great to meet Rachel again. We wish her the best of luck for her upcoming GCSEs and look forward to welcoming her back in the autumn.”
