Middleton Market returns to gardens

Date published: 03 February 2012

Middleton Market has returned home to its original base at Middleton Gardens following the completion of the majority of the town square.

Traders were relocated to a temporary site at Fountain Street during the £2million refurbishment of the gardens which has created more green space and seating for visitors to enjoy as part of the regeneration of the town.

Over 45 stalls are now settling in to the improved space and it’s hoped more will follow once word spreads about the new look town centre.

Deborah Sutcliffe, who sells make-up and beauty products said: "It was tough moving to a temporary location but we knew the work to improve Middleton Gardens was vital for the long term benefit of the town.

“Coming back to this fantastic space is a real boost to the market and I am sure it will continue to grow."

The Middleton Gardens refurbishment is the latest part of the town’s regeneration which in addition to the market includes a new transport interchange, the Middleton Arena and Tesco.
