Date published: 31 January 2012
A model-making club from Rochdale has been invited to showcase its work at a prestigious international exhibition.
Rochdale Society of Model and Experimental Engineers will be displaying its spectacular model engineering at the Northern Modelling Exhibition, which is set to be the largest modelling show ever to be held in the North.
Len Uff, from Rochdale Society of Model and Experimental Engineers, said: “We are delighted to be showcasing our passion to visitors from all over the UK. It is wonderful to see so many people supporting the world of modelling especially as Northern England has such a rich industrial and engineering heritage so it is great to be able to prove that a local club from Rochdale can be so highly regarded.
“Our members come from all over the area and it is a great way to meet people who are passionate about the same things as you.”
The exhibition blends the full spectrum of modelling from the traditional model engineering, steam locomotives and traction engines through to the more modern gadgets and boys toys including tanks, boats, aeroplanes and helicopters.
Visitors can travel between the show’s different zones, trying the hands-on activities and watching technical demonstrations designed to engage with young people and adults and spark a passion for a hobby that can last a lifetime.
The show takes place at Event City, Manchester from Friday 2 – Sunday 4 March.
