Date published: 26 January 2012
A teenager was grabbed by a man as she walked down the street in Rochdale.
At about 6.00pm on Monday 16 January 2012, a 17-year-old girl was waiting for a bus on Oldham Road at The Landing opposite Matalan when a man began speaking to her.
She decided to walk home and was followed by the man along Oldham Road.
He put his arm over her shoulder and asked her name and number.
The man pulled his arm back and the victim walked under the bridge on Oldham Road but was then grabbed on the wrist by the man.
He was disturbed by a passing man and walked off.
The offender is described as Asian, 21 years old, clean shaven and had a long fringe to one side of his face.
Police Constable Kathryn Wynne, said: "Incidents such as this are rare and while we don't know the man’s motives he clearly caused some upset to the victim.
"I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area, particularly the passer-by who disturbed the offender and his unwanted advances."
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 8549, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
