On Monday Year 5 will be taking part in an afternoon of Hoola Hooping. The cost of the event is being covered by school and if the children want to take a brand new hoola hoop home at the end of the afternoon, they need to bring £3.

On Tuesday it is Young Voices, this involves choir members from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 all of whom should have brought home a letter regarding the complicated safety arrangements for the day. If your child has not brought home the letter with the release form please contact school before Tuesday. The children who take part in Young Voices are able to have a later start on Wednesday and will get their mark as long as they are in school by 11.00am.

On Wednesday Rochdale Magistrates are coming in to talk to Year 6, this was a very successful enterprise last year. Year 4 are going to Touchstones on Thursday, we are planning to walk the children down to the town centre but they will need £1 for the bus fare back up the hill.

Well done to the children who were presented with the first Achievement Award of 2012.

Reception: Eesha Khan
Year 1: Mason Stott
Year 2: Nathan Ashurst
Year 3: Ellie Frost

Year 5: Callum Griffin-Jones
Year 6: Thomas Bray

We had excellent whole school attendance for the first week back – 85%, with 3 classes managing to give 100%; Years 1, 3, and 5. This is an excellent start to the term.

Well done to the children who were presented with the Achievement Award on the last school Friday of 2011.

Reception: Zaki Khan
Year 1: Millie Thompson
Year 2: Ben Williams
Year 4: Tom Hemmings
Year 5: Sofia Riley
Year 6: Ellie Astin

Year 4 managed 100% attendance during the last week too.

Music bills are being issued this week. This is a short term and we ask that the bills are paid by 27 January.

This term is the term of coughs and sneezes. If your child is absent please ensure that you contact school on the first morning of absence, either by phone or e mail and then back up the absence with a letter on return to school. This saves a lot of time chasing up when the electronic registers are sent in. Parents are also reminded that driving into the school car park at the beginning and end of school is strictly prohibited on safety and insurance reasons. The contractors have now moved out and cars have started to creep in. We have to insist that parents adhere to these arrangements.
