‘Make this Bobble Day one to remember’
Date published: 11 January 2012
Age UK Metro Rochdale is urging people to get involved and support National Bobble Day.
Bobble Day – which takes place on Friday 10 February - is part of Age UK’s ‘Spread the Warmth Campaign’ to prevent thousands of older people suffering needlessly this winter, to reduce the number of unnecessary deaths among people in later life and to make this time of year better for those who may otherwise have nowhere to turn.
To take part supporters can make a donation to wear their most colourful, kitsch, silly, quirky, or even just their favourite woolly to work or school and dress it with the iconic bobble - Age UK’s symbol of warmth.
All of the money raised locally will be used within the Rochdale borough and the day has already been backed by a number of businesses and Rochdale AFC.
Paul Gala, Chief Executive of Age UK Metro Rochdale, said: “We are encouraging people to pin a Bobble on their favourite woolly, to help raise vital funds as part of Bobble Day.
“We’re delighted to already have a great deal of support throughout the Borough; it would be great if readers join in too and make this a Bobble Day to remember.”
The Bobbles will be available to buy from Age UK in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton, as well as Wilkinson’s from the end of January.
Local businesses or schools who would like to get involved should contact Age UK on 01706 712515.
