Healey Primary School
Happy New Year and welcome back to the new school term. This is a very short half term of only 5 weeks so we will be packing a lot in.
We have a Judo Club running after school for next 5 weeks on Friday after school. Children should have come home with details after the first Friday special assembly. The Year 5 children are in the middle of a four week Community Kids project.
They will be out and about the local community on Tuesday 24. Tuesday 24 is also the Young Voices Concert at the MEN Arena. All parents of children in the choir should have received clear details about collection arrangements at the end of the concert and what the children need to have with them for the long day rehearsal and evening concert.
As always the safety of the children is our priority so parents are asked to ensure all the details are kept handy. This week we have had two occasions where mobile numbers have changed and we have been unable to contact parents. Fortunately neither of the calls were urgent or an emergency but this has highlighted how essential it is that we are updated when there are any changes. If you have changed your mobile number in the last 6 months or have changed jobs, please make sure we have the correct details. This very important for the text alert service which we are using more and more. If you did not receive a text last Sunday prior to the term starting, then we do not have your latest phone number.
We are continuing with Walk to School badges. Children qualify for a badge at the end of each month when they walk to school (or part of the way) at least three times a week.
Coming up this half term; hoola hooping for Year 5, magistrates for Year 6, Touchstones Roman workshop for Year 4. We will send specific details nearer to the days.
So far this year the weather has been very mild but we could have snow around the corner – if we do have a sudden blast please remember that the school WILL be open. The children just need to be appropriately dressed for the conditions and to have spare socks and gloves, plus wellies if possible.
