Boy, 16, charged following serious assault in Rochdale

A 16-year-old boy has been charged following a serious assault in Rochdale.
The teenager - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due before Bury Magistrates' Court on today (Monday 9 January).
Police were called to Fishwick Street at 11.15pm on Friday night (6 January 2012) following reports of fighting.
Officers attended and found a 30-year-old man unconscious, suffering heavy bleeding and head injuries.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to a fracture to the skull, where he remains in a critical condition.
Four men, aged between 23 and 30 were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and have been bailed until 9 February 2012 pending further inquiries.
Inquiries are ongoing.
