Primary school places deadline looms

Date published: 09 January 2012

Parents risk their children missing out on a primary school place if they do not submit an application by Friday (13 January).

If your child is due to start in reception class at primary school in September 2012 you have until Friday to apply - stating your three preferred choices.

Last year, over 500 parents either didn’t submit or were late with their application which can lead to their child not being offered a place at their first choice school.

The Council is reminding all parents that even if you have another child already at the school, they still require an application for all children due to start in September.

Councillor Donna Martin, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families, said: “I can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure applications reach us on time.

“Parents who have not yet applied must do so as soon as possible to ensure that their child doesn’t miss out on a place at their preferred school."
