PIP breast implants not used at Pennine Acute Trust hospitals

The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is reassuring the public that it does not and has not used the specific brand of breast implants - Poly Implant Prothese (PIP).

The announcement comes following recent coverage concerning the PIP implants and the Trust say that this particular brand of implant has never been used at any of their hospitals.

Services at The Pennine Acute Trust, said: "We would like to reassure our patients who have been surgically treated using breast implants at North Manchester and Fairfield General Hospitals, The Royal Oldham Hospital and at Rochdale Infirmary, that there is no cause for concern regarding the type of implants used. PIP implants have not been used at this Trust.

“All women who have undergone surgery under the care of our breast surgeons at our hospitals have not been given PIP implants. We have never used this brand of implant.

“This should help alleviate unnecessary worry for women who have attended
our hospitals.”

"We await guidance from the Department of Health as to whether patients who have had PIP implants will need additional breast screening in the future."
