Man, 30, in critical condition following serious assault

A man has suffered a fractured skull following a serious assault in Rochdale.
Police were called to Fishwick Street at 11.15pm on Friday night (6 January 2012) following reports of fighting.
Officers attended and found a 30-year-old man unconscious, suffering heavy bleeding and head injuries.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to a fracture to the skull, where he remains in a critical condtion.
Four men, aged between 23 and 30 have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remain in police custody.
Inquiries are ongoing.
