Burst water main affecting supply

A burst water main on Whitworth Road at the junction of Gandy Lane is causing water supply problems in the OL12 area of Rochdale.
The burst is understood to have been reported at 9.45am this morning (Friday 6 January).
United Utilities say they have requested a team of engineers to attend and carry out repair work.
In a post on their website, a spokesperson said: “If you live in the OL12 area of Rochdale and you do not have any water or your water pressure is poor, this has been caused by a burst water main on Whitworth Road Junction of Gandy Lane.
“We have requested that a team of engineers attend to carry out the repairs and we will restore your water supply as soon as possible.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
Update:
At 1.40pm a spokesperson for the company, said: “Our engineers have now re-routed the water through the mains network and water supplies are now restored. The mains repair on Whitworth Road [at the] junction of Gandy Lane is ongoing and during this time customers may experience reduced water pressure. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.”
