Elderly couple threatened at knifepoint

A 73-year-old man and his 66-year-old wife were threatened at knifepoint by robbers who forced their way into their flat on New Year’s Day

Two men knocked on the door before forcing their way into the flat, on Rope Street, Falinge, at 7.15pm and pinned the man to the ground.

The couple were threatened at knifepoint before the robbers made off with cash and jewellery.

The first offender is described as white, tall, of medium build, wearing dark clothes and a hat with a Manchester United logo.

The second is described as white, small, stocky and wearing dark clothes and a black balaclava.
