Reassurance to rail travellers and workers
Date published: 23 December 2011
Anyone travelling or working on the railway this Christmas can be assured that BTP officers will be out and about throughout the festive season.
Response officers will be on hand to deal with incidents as they happen whilst Neighbourhood Policing Teams will be patrolling trains and stations to deter criminals and reassure the public.
Chief Inspector Eddie Wylie said: "All BTP posts across the North West have special Christmas operations running throughout the festive season and into the new year.
"Our officers will be visible across the network this Yuletide in a bid to give everyone a safe and happy Christmas on the railway.
"Clearly though we cannot be everywhere at all times and so it is vital that people who use, work on or live near the railway report incidents or concerns to us."
If you see anything suspicious or need to report a crime that has taken place please call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40. In an emergency, or to report a crime in progress, always dial 999.
