Community activist charged over benefit fraud

A community activist has been charged with benefit fraud for failing to declare part ownership of a second home.
Mohammed Salim, 54, appeared at Rochdale Magistrates on Wednesday (14 December).
Mr Salim of Letchworth Avenue, has been charged with four counts of making a false statement or representation to obtain benefits after failing to declare joint ownership of a property in King Street South.
It is alleged Mr Salim made fake statements on job seekers, housing benefit and council tax forms. It is alleged the offences took place between 2005 and 2007.
Mr Salim will appear at Bolton Crown Court on 23 January.
