Greater Manchester Police is relaunching its seasonal hotel chain – The Drunken Disorderly Inn – for Christmas.
The inn provides bed and breakfast behind bars to those caught indulging in alcohol-fuelled violence and antisocial behaviour.
Offenders are invited to try the beds, sample the food and experience the minimalist décor and lack of natural light that create the unique ambience of a custody suite.
Mock hotel brochures are being handed out to revellers in the run up to Christmas as a warning not to get involved in any disorder.
The brochure promises potential guests at the inn an unforgettable experience that includes top-level security, long-life ration pack food served on plastic plates, wipe clean mattresses and en-suite open plan toilets.
Chief Inspector Mark Bell of GMP’s Rochdale Division said: “Thousands of people go out to pubs and clubs to celebrate Christmas and the New Year, and we are determined that they can do so without falling victim to drunken violence and antisocial behaviour. With this brochure we want to send out a clear message to potential offenders that drunken behaviour will not be tolerated. It’s your night out and it’s your choice. Don’t spend it with us.”
Police are offering the following advice to people who may be planning a night out over Christmas: Pace your drinks, stay with friends, plan how you intend to get home safely, take a taxi you can trust, don’t ruin it for others.
