Date published: 14 December 2011
There has been festivities and celebrations galore at Alice Ingham School this week.
We began the week by lighting the third Advent candle, the pink one to symbolise the joy and happiness we are all feeling as the great feast of Christmas gets nearer.
Thank you to all our families who supported the Jumble Sale on Monday…..many good bargains were found and all funds raised will go towards developing the outdoor provision for all our pupils and parents.
The disco was enjoyed by many families. A big thank to our hard working parents who did all the preparations and organising on the night.
On Tuesday Year 3 and 4 presented their term’s Drama work to parents and other pupils. Our work with the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy is proving to be very successful, giving many children opportunities to excel with new skills. All of the pupils received a certificate recognising their achievements over the term. Well done to all!
The whole school presented their Christmas Productions to a full house on Wednesday. KS1 children told the story of the Star that didn’t Shine, a lovely version of the Nativity Story and KS2 told the story of SCROOGE based on Charles Dickens’ classic tale ‘A Christmas Carol.’
Father Joe celebrated Holy Mass with the whole school on Thursday morning. It was lovely to share this with our parents, governors and friends.
Christmas Dinner was a big success on Thursday. Pupils and staff enjoyed a scrumptious meal with all the trimmings prepared by our hard working kitchen team. A big thank you to them all.
Poetry Day on Friday had a very Christmassy theme. We have enough poems to create our own Christmas Anthology.
Congratulations to all the pupils who received achievement awards for their work in Maths this term. They were presented by our Every Child Counts teacher who is moving on to another school in January. We thank her for her great work and hope we can have her back next year to continue to build on this year’s successes.
The children have been planning, designing and making cards, cribs, hats, and stockings across the school. There is an air of anticipation and excitement as we approach the last week before Christmas.
Don’t miss out next week…be in school Monday and Tuesday for Christmas parties and our Christingle on Tues morning at 9.10am
School closes at 2pm on Tues 20 Dec and reopens on Thurs 5 Jan 2012.
We wish all our families and friends a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS and thank you for you support throughout a very successful year.
