Children’s favourite makes special festive visit
Date published: 13 December 2011
Children’s television favourite Rastamouse will be taking time out from crime fighting with ‘Da Easy Crew’ to help with the Christmas celebrations in Rochdale.
The popular character, from the pre-school animated CBeebies series ‘Rastamouse’ will be dropping in to meet shoppers on Sunday (18 December). He’ll be meeting and greeting children in both the town’s shopping centres.
Two series of Rastamouse have been broadcast on CBeebies in 2010 and 2011. It tells the story of ‘Da Easy Crew’, crime-fighting special agents Rastamouse, Scratchy and Zoomer, who solve mysteries and have adventures. The all-mouse cast is Jamaican-Caribbean.
He will be in the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre at 11.00am and 12.00pm, and then in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre at 2.00pm and 3.00pm on Sunday.
Chairman of Rochdale Township, Cllr Sultan Ali said: “Rastamouse is a very popular programme and I know a lot of children are looking forward to meeting him in Rochdale town centre this Christmas.”
The guest appearances are part of a programme of entertainment in town during the run up to Christmas Eve. Last weekend Santa and his reindeer took part in the popular reindeer parade. You can catch some live festive music in the town centre over the next two weeks, and a Christmas market will be held on Lower Yorkshire Street from Tuesday 20 to Friday 23 December organised by Rochdale Town Centre Management and supported by Rochdale Township. Also from Monday 19 December until Christmas Eve you can get Christmas gifts wrapped for free in the two shopping centres when purchased in Rochdale town centre.
