Still time to make your voice heard

Date published: 12 December 2011

People still have time to have their say on what the future shape of Rochdale Borough Council should be before the current public consultation process ends later this month.

The council needs to make savings of £64 million by 2015 following cuts in Government funding and is aiming to do this while still providing as many frontline services as possible.

Members of the public have until 5.00pm on 19 December to let the council know which services matter most to them - and how they want to see them delivered.

Council leader Councillor Colin Lambert said: “I urge people to get in touch and give us their views to ensure that we are equipped with as much information as possible as we take these crucial decisions.”

For details of the council’s current savings proposals, and to submit your comments, visit www.rochdale.gov.uk/yourviews and click on ‘Savings proposals - The £64 million question.’

As part of the process, the council is also consulting directly with individuals and groups who would be affected by potential changes to services.

Comments will be considered by council members before decisions are announced in February 2012.
