St Cuthbert's R.C Business & Enterprise College
The Enterprise term of the week is “Teamwork.”
As part of their Citizenship project focusing on reducing negative stereotypes of disabled young people, a group of Year 11 boys have successfully set up a link between St Cuthbert's and Redwood School. This week Joe Ready and Jordan Copple visited Redwood with an early Christmas present, as they had arranged for St Cuthbert's to donate three sewing machines to support the students of Redwood with their enterprise activities. Other joint enterprise activities are being planned for the future. Well done boys.
This week’s year seven attendance challenge was won by form 7.6 with a weekly attendance of 97%. The form with the best attendance at the end of term will celebrate breakfast together.
Congratulations to Kiera Baxendale winner of the weekly “You have to be in to win” competition.
A group of 30 year 8 pupils spent the day with a representative from “TH!NK,” a social enterprise education provider. The pupils had an exciting day investigating the recycling of electrical products. In their teams the pupils developed a ‘green’ business plan around the sustainable and safe disposal of electrical products. The day culminated in a Dragons Den style presentation from each of the groups, and then a winning group was chosen and presented with an award. All the pupils who took part in the activity demonstrated excellent enterprise skills and there are definitely some budding business tycoons in the making!
This week sees the performance of the hotly anticipated college production of West Side Story. This is a notoriously difficult musical but after the tremendous success of Les Miserables both staff and students feel ready for the challenge. Months of preparation, including evenings and weekends, will be worth it as students take to the stage for feeder primary schools on Tues. 6th Dec. Evening performances follow on the 8th, 9th and 10th of Dec. Over 90 students are involved and it is a real team effort with everyone pulling together to create a dynamic and professional performance. A 12 piece orchestra will create an amazing sound and we are sure that the audience will be wowed by the talent on show.
Diary Date: December 8, 9 and 10 Westside Story
