Elderly woman taken to hospital following fire

An elderly woman has been taken to hospital following a kitchen fire at a house in Syke.
The fire service was called to Chatsworth Street shortly after 8.30pm on Monday (5 December). On arrival they were faced with a fire involving a quantity of a food in a microwave.
Fire-fighters extinguished the fire using a damp towel.
The elderly lady was given oxygen therapy by fire service personnel before being taken to hospital.
