School ‘guys and dolls’ prepare for Christmas production
Date published: 05 December 2011
Students from Wardle High School are putting the finishing touches to their Christmas production ahead of their opening night later this week.
The school will showcase Frank Loesser’s great Broadway musical Guys and Dolls on 7, 8, and 9 of December.
Set in 1940’s New York, Guys and Dolls tells the tale of Nathan Detroit, a chronic gambler who makes a wager with his buddy Sky Masterson, that Sky can’t make the next girl he sees fall in love with him. The fun really begins when the next girl happens to be Miss Sarah Brown, a pure-at-heart Salvation Army-type reformer.
The show will see Sky struggle to win the bet of his life, whilst Nathan tries to avoid the persistent Lieutenant Brannigan, and the even more persistent Adelaide.
The lead roles will be played by Chloe Gray as Sarah Brown, Isobel Backhouse as Adelaide, Kieran Webster as Nathan Detroit and Nathan Finn as Sky Masterson.
With a musical score packed full of catchy songs such as 'A Bushell and a Peck', 'Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat' and 'Luck Be a Lady', the show promises to be a great night.
Tickets are available at the school reception, priced at £4 for adults and £2 for children. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm performance.
