Christmas fair draws in the crowds

Date published: 04 December 2011

Keen fundraisers and those with an eye for a bargain flocked to the Springhill Hospice Christmas Fair on Sunday (4 December).

The Christmas Fair is one of the highlights of the Hospice’s fundraising calendar, attracting people from far and wide – and this year was no exception as people queued in the rain for the fair to open.

With over 40 stalls to choose from people both young and old browsed the goods and looked for those extra special Christmas gifts.

Stalls ranged from candles to cupcakes and knitted dolls to dazzling jewellery.

Sarah Ford, Income Services Lead at the Hospice, described the day as “a brilliant day for the Hospice.”

She said: “The main aim today is to make money for the hospice. We are hoping to raise about £8,000 but whether that will happen because of the weather we don't know.

“We want people to have fun and make money.”

UPDATE Monday 5 December: So far the fair has raised £8,979 for the Hospice and money is still being counted.
