Fire service training exercise at Hollingworth Lake
Date published: 02 December 2011
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service will be carrying out a large scale training exercise at Hollingworth Lake this evening (Friday 2 December).
Working alongside colleagues from the other emergency services – including the police helicopter – fire-fighters will be undertaking a ‘mud rescue’ exercise for several hours.
Dave Kirkham, Borough Manager, said: “The exercise will be carried out in the darkness and we would advise members of the public to avoid the area in order to remain safe.
“This is the first of five scheduled rescue training exercises we have planned for December and, whilst these exercises provide us with valuable experience, we don’t wish any residents or regular lake-users to be alarmed by our presence.”
The remaining exercises are scheduled for 6, 16, 19 and 21 December.
