Unattended cooker causes fire
Date published: 01 December 2011
A woman and three children escaped from a house fire caused by a gas cooker that was left unattended.
Fire-fighters from Rochdale, Heywood and Chadderton, were called to a house on Greave Avenue just after 1.00pm on Wednesday (30 November).
When the fire crews arrived the fire was out.
The gas cooker was destroyed in the blaze and the kitchen was smoke damaged.
Crews gave oxygen to the woman before carrying out a Home Fire Safety Check.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire Service, said: “To protect yourselves from fire never leave cookers unattended. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service say fire starts when attention stops.”
