Confusion has reigned over a part of Hill Top Drive since a new sign was delivered just over a year ago - because the sign was delivered with a missing number 1.
Since then ward Councillors have informed the Council’s Highways Department of the error but the sign still hasn’t been corrected.
Now Councillor Pat Colclough is demanding the sign be corrected to halt the confusion that has been caused.
Councillor Colclough, said: “Given that this part of Hill Top Drive is dominated by a bungalow community, I am told that ambulances which have visited the area have missed addresses because of this sign not reading the correct numbers.
“Given there was a pledge made by the Highways department back in April to do something about this, I cannot understand what is keeping them from getting this sign corrected?”
She added: “A new sign is not what is required, just a number ‘one’ painted on. At the moment a local resident has had to resort to apply a small strip of tape to stop the confusion, but this is quite unsatisfactory.
“I hope this will now get done shortly.”
David Nicholson, Highways & Engineering Director for Rochdale Borough Council's Impact Partnership, said: "We are getting the sign fixed today to resolve the problem."
