Rochdale Tenants’ panel members remind people to use their vote
Council tenants have just over two weeks left to have their say on proposals to transfer ownership of 13,000 homes to Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH).
At the moment, the houses are owned by Rochdale Borough Council and managed on its behalf by RBH.
Consultation on the proposals has been taking place over the past few months and ballot papers have now been issued to all tenants who have until Monday 19 December to cast their votes.
Tenants can vote by post, by telephone, by text message or over the internet.
Council leader, Councillor Colin Lambert, said: “This has been a massive consultation exercise and the council wants as many tenants as possible to have their say.
“It’s not too late to vote. My message to council tenants is please don’t waste your chance to have your say on shaping the future of homes and services in the borough.”
Andrew Johnson, a tenant at Freehold, Rochdale said: “Deciding on transfer is one of the most important decisions that we will be asked to make about the future of our homes.
“I’ve used my vote and hope that other council tenants will use theirs before the ballot closes.”
