Appeal to trace movements of Chamman Nisa Shah
Date published: 30 November 2011
Detectives investigating the death of a woman found dead at Hollingworth Lake are trying to trace anyone who might have seen her prior to the discovery of her body.
Police were called to the lake shortly before 7.45pm on Saturday 26 November 2011, following reports of a body at the waters shore.
Officers attended and discovered the body of Chamman Nisa Shah, aged 21.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who saw or spoke to Chamman at any time from about 4pm on Saturday 26 November 2011, when it is believed she left the family home in Littleborough to the time she was found by dog walkers.
It is believed she was driving a red Toyota Corolla, which was found parked in the Disabled car park overlooking the lake.
Chamman is described as Asian, 5ft tall, of slim build.
Detective Inspector Melani Linton, said: “Chamman’s family and friends as well as the wider community are understandably upset by what has happened. We are fully investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. There are a number of detectives piecing together the details and as is normal in these enquiries I am keeping an open mind as to what has taken place.
“We believe there is a window of just under four hours where her movements are not fully accounted for and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw or spoke to her before her body was found.
“I also want anyone who was at the lake on Saturday afternoon and who saw Chamman or her car, a red Toyota Corolla, at any point to please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4644, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
