What are you doin'?"
"CRUCIAL CREWIN'!!!"
This was the cry as Year 6 went to visit the Crucial Crew in Bury last Friday.
Pupils went through 7 rooms during the course of the morning and learned about Safety in various contexts.
One room was on road safety and what we can do to minimise the risk of being run over or injured in a car accident. Another room dealt with staying in well-lit areas when it is dark outside and possible problems. Safety around train lines, the folly of playing around trains and the possibly fatal consequences of throwing things at a train was the topic in another room. Yet another room showed the youngsters what to do in case of a fire at home. In a further part a mobile phone got "stolen" and some of the pupils got the chance to make a 999 call. One room made the children realise the consequences of vandalism. The last room showed them what and what not to do around bus stops and on buses.
We all had a great time and learned a lot. It was a morning truly well spent.

The Reception and Year One pupils had a wonderful time learning tennis skills. Coaches from the Lancashire Tennis Academy taught the children a variety of new skills including how to balance and bounce a ball. The coaches spotted a number of pupils with pleasing sporting ability, who will be invited to attend the academy for tennis training.
