Inset Day and Strike Action:
School is closed for a Staff Inset Day Monday 28 November and as a result of the public sector campaign regarding changes to pensions, the school will be closed to students on Wednesday 30 November. For more information please see our website.
Children In Need:
On Friday, our Year 11 prefects held several events within school to raise money for Children in Need. Among the events was a very successful bake sale and several male students dressed up as women for day... complete with make up! Many of the male students also volunteered to get their legs waxed, helping to raise £76 so far. Well done to all students concerned!
Anti-Bullying Week:
Last week was National Anti-Bullying Week, which was promoted through the sale of the Anti-Bullying wristband. As a result of this week, we have established a group of pupils who will champion anti-bullying in and around school.
There are 20 ambassadors who will each receive a badge and will participate in activities to support pupil safety in school. These students will also have training on bullying issues and procedures to report them and support pupils. We now have an email link on the homepage of the students VLE for use if pupils feel worried in school. This link goes directly to Mr Taylor and will ensure quicker and more effective solutions to any instances of bullying.
We also have the Anti-bullying board in school identifying some of the staff that pupils can approach if feeling unsafe and the procedures, and there is an Anti-bullying presentation on pupils VLE written by the Chair of the Junior Leaders, Chris Barnes and his Brother Bradley.
School Proms:
We have now received our official photos from The School Proms. These photos will be available to purchase from our Performing Arts Department.
Garden Project:
A group from 7 Birch are doing a smart kids project which involves making the garden a nice place. If you could generously donate any garden equipment such as plant seeds, gloves or plant pots we would be very grateful.
Christmas Engagements:
Our very talented musical groups are going to be taking part in many different Christmas celebrations this year. We have a very full programme of events culminating in our traditional annual carols round the tree in Wardle Square at 6.30 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
In order to make sure you get chance to see our musical groups, please see our website for a timetable of events.
Instrument Insurance:
According to our records there are still students who have not paid the insurance for a musical instrument which was due by Friday 30th September 2011. Therefore, prompt payment from these students would be very much appreciated. Please make cheques payable to Wardle High School.
The cost of instrument insurance is £20 for one, £30 for two or £35 for three.
Those students who do not bring their insurance money risk having to pay the full price for instruments that are damaged. Please contact the Performing Arts Team at school if you have any queries.

Our new term dates for 2012- 2013 are now available on the Wardle High School website.
