What is happening in the classroom?
Spotlight on language and grammar:
Next week our focus is on Anagrams e.g. mummy - my mum; eleven plus two - twelve plus one; the statue of liberty - built to stay free!!
Parents and carers please spare ten minutes or more per night with your child to support the work that the children are doing in school.
Statements to live by:
Simple things make us happy
As you are now aware, pupils have been working together to understand their uniqueness as made in the image of God and develop self awareness, positive self-esteem and confidence.
Please take the opportunity to discuss with your child at home and support them in this week’s aim of taking care to keep safe and healthy.
Christmas Fair:
A Christmas Fair will be held at St John’s Church on Saturday 26 November, 12.30pm to 2pm with many attractions including tombola, cakes, Christmas decorations and gifts. Hot spiced fruit punch and mulled wine, hot dogs, toys and books PLUS Father Christmas – come and post your letter to Santa.
Please come along, have fun and support the Church.
Advent Mass:
Our advent Mass is on Tuesday 29 November at 9.15am. All parents and carers are very welcome to join us.
Class 3 will be making Christingles which have a special significance at this time of year.
It is also a non-uniform dress smartly day. A donation of 50p per child for Children in Need would be appreciated.
Reconciliation:
The children on the Sacramental Programme will be meeting with Father Chris and their parents at 3pm on Tuesday 29 November in School.
The following week, the children will be making their first reconciliation in Church at 3.15pm. Parents and carers to assemble with the children at school at 3pm and we will walk across to church for the service.
Musical Extravaganza:
The children are going to perform songs and dances that they have been learning in their music lessons.
The songs originate from Cameroon in Africa. Performance will take place in the Church at 9.15am,
Monday 12 December.
It would be lovely to have a full Church for this special event so please make a note of this date in your diary.
Sporting events:
Monday:
Daniel C., Salvador and Simons made their debut in the school sports teams.
We took part in a four team handball tournament at Beech House. St. John’s won 2 games and lost 1.
Well done to those taking part, you played very well.
Miriam and Helvis took part in the Playground to Podium event at Kingsway Park where they were awarded a medal and t-shirt each. Organisers stated that they were the best behaved children during the whole event.
Golden Book awards:
The Golden Book awards are for children have tried their best in all areas with politeness and respect.
Class 1: Alex and Jessica
Class 2: Miyanwi and Molly
Class 3: Lukas and Fatima
Class 4: Adelaide and Jennifer
Class 5: Ramsha and Farhana
Class 6: Gisela and Fabio
Awards go to Class 3 for highest attendance and good behaviour in and around the school.
Other business:
Finally, please don’t forget to ring the school office before 9.15am if your child is not attending school and please continue to pay dinner money on a weekly basis.
