A full house enjoyed the 2011 ‘Last Night of the Proms’ concert at St Aidan’s Church, Sudden.

The concert, organised by the Masonic Lodge of Harmony 298, in aid of the Church, Masonic Charities and the Rochdale Music Service, raised over £1,500.

A rousing night of Proms Music and Voices was performed by the Rochdale Schools Concert Orchestra, Rochdale Girls Choir, That’s All Folk, Rochdale Retirement Choir and soloist Freda Farnworth.

The entertaining programme and sterling Finale, including Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and  Land of Hope and Glory, delighted the enthusiastic audience and left them calling for more at the end of the concert.

The evening was attended by the Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Alan Godson, the Mayoress, Gillian Brown, the District Chairman of the Rochdale Masonic Lodges, Peter Hewitt and his wife Sandra.

The compere, Ken Davies MBE, particularly thanked Richard Charles, Head of the Rochdale Music Service, for all his support in planning the concert and the valued helpers from St Aidan’s Church who fully assisted with the running of the event.
