Hospice ‘lights of love’ appeal

Date published: 16 November 2011

Springhill Hospice is preparing for its annual ‘Lights of Love’ service and this year, because the service has become so popular it will be conducted by the Rt Rev Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton, at Rochdale Parish Church.

Rt Rev Davies said: “I am honoured to be part of this year’s Lights of Love service on 8 December in the Rochdale Parish Church.

“The increasing number of people who value this annual service means that it has moved to a new venue, and Rochdale Parish Church is a spectacular place to gather for what will be a very special and memorable occasion for everyone.”

Alison Cordwell, Fundraiser at the Hospice, added: “We are so very pleased that the Bishop of Middleton has offered to conduct the service for us.

“We have taken the opportunity to expand the Lights of Love Service and this year we will be having Christmas Carols with mulled wine and minced pies.

“This is a community event and everybody is welcome – whether their loved one were cared for by Springhill Hospice or not. It will be a lovely festive evening to remember our loved ones.”

The Hospice is inviting individuals and families to take part in the annual ‘Lights of Love’ appeal.

By making a donation to the Hospice and returning the form (below) by Monday 5 December, you can have your dedication placed on one of the Christmas trees situated around the Borough. These trees will be in the centres of Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood, Wardle, Littleborough and at the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, Rochdale. There will also be two trees at Springhill Hospice

The service will take place at 7.00pm on Thursday 8 December.

For those who wish to remember their loved ones at the Hospice there will be two open evenings at the Hospice on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 December from 7.00 – 9.00pm and an open afternoon on Wednesday 14 December from 3.00 – 5.00pm.
