Call for schools to take part in Reindeer Parade

School children in last year's parade
A call is being issued to primary schools across Rochdale to make sure they don't miss out on being part of a big community event - the annual Father Christmas and Reindeer Parade.
Last year hundreds of school children took part in the parade, which is part of Rochdale’s festive entertainment programme. This year Rochdale Town Centre Management have once again teamed up with local artists and are urging schools to get in touch to make sure their children are included.
They will arrange a classroom session to be held at participating schools prior to the parade, where children will be able to design and make fun things for the parade.
Debbie O’Brien, Town Centre Manager said: "The Reindeer Parade is always a really fun and exciting day and last year it really drew the crowds.
“It is a very popular part of our festive celebrations and we need as many school children as possible to get involved.
“I am urging local schools to get in touch as soon as possible.
“We don't want anyone to miss out on being part of this special event and it will be great for parents to see their children in the parade."
Any schools who want to get involved in the parade should email suzy@rochdaletcm.co.uk or phone 01706 926676.
The Father Christmas and Reindeer Parade is on Sunday 4 December 12.00pm, starting from the top of Yorkshire Street.
