Healey Foundation Primary School

Next week is Anti-Bullying Week, and this year’s theme is “Stop, think…words can hurt.” We will be running lots of special activities to promote the anti bullying message.
There is a PTA meeting on Monday, immediately at the end of school at 3:15pm. There will be games and refreshments for children so please come along and support. The questionnaires circulated at Parents Evenings had lots of good suggestions about family activities and fundraising ideas. The PTA are currently working on a lottery bid to build a special outdoor meeting area for parents and children, they are also working with governors and teachers on developing the newly rebuilt garden area. Mr Rhodes is doing a fabulous job making this area safe again and we are planning to join the garden area to the new path to give the children an exciting mud free track. If anyone has any time or energy to help with the garden please come along and offer your services, the new garden will have raised beds making the management much easier. Mr Whelan has also done a super job of clearing the old pond area, enabling the Reception Class to begin to build their outdoor classroom.

Well done to the children who were presented with the Achievement Award last Friday;
Reception: Kyrah Patterson
Year 1: Dominic McCardle
Year 2: Aliesha Mohammed
Year 3: Hannah Khan
Year 4: Fallon Cooney
Year 5: Cain Thomason
Year 6: Salina Rani

Best attendance was shared between Year 2 and Year 6, with 99.3%. Well done. Overall school attendance was much better this week at 97.1%.

On Tuesday it is WHOLE SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS; younger siblings (babies and toddlers) are welcome to come along for family groups. These groups will be done FIRST, so please be in school from 8:30am and wait in the Hall. We will arrange for siblings in school to have their photographs together. The early start is for children who do not attend Healey and we do try to get these pictures taken as soon as possible, but parents are advised there may be a wait.

On Friday it is Children In Need Day. We did originally plan for a cake sale only, however the School Council have pleaded for non uniform also! We have compromised and agreed that children who bring cakes and biscuits for the cake sale may come to school out of uniform, no special costumes or fancy dress, just ordinary clothes, but avoiding soccer tops please. The cakes and biscuits will be on sale at breaktimes. We also have the ‘Show your Spots’ wristbands on sale, there are 4 colours and are available at the beginning and end of the school day at a suggested price of £1. All proceeds will be going to Children in Need. On Friday afternoon there is also a presentation to Francis House Children’s Hospice. This year the children have raised £240 – a fabulous effort.

Please could all remaining football sponsor money be chased up, we would like to present a cheque to RFC as soon as possible.

As yet we are unclear about the status of the school on the 30th November strike day. Parents will be advised as soon as we know if all, some or none of the classes will have to remain at home that day.

Reminder about the whole school Christmas Production for the children. Sleeping Beauty is on Monday 21st November and is a theatre production for all the children. We are asking for a voluntary donation of £1.80 to meet some of the costs, the remainder being met by school.
