The Risk
X Factor boy band ‘The Risk’ will officially switch on Rochdale Christmas lights.
The band, who were kicked out of the show over the weekend after receiving the lowest number of public votes, will flick the switch on Saturday 19 November.
The switch on show, from 5.00pm on The Butts, will be hosted by Gareth Bird and Elliot Eastwick from 96.2 The Revolution and also includes performances by pop band ‘Eli Prime’ and new up and coming act ‘Luminites’.
Local singer Jade Hegarty, the Mayor Councillor Alan Godson and stars from the Middleton Arena cast of ‘Aladdin’ will also be appearing at the free show.
Debbie O’Brien from Rochdale Town Centre Management said: “It’s going to be a great night for all the family, and I’m delighted that The Risk are going to be appearing in Rochdale.
“They are a fantastic act and over the past few weeks have gained a huge following.”
The Mayor, Councillor Alan Godson, said: “This is always a fantastic event which starts the festive season wonderfully in Rochdale. There’s such a magical atmosphere at this time of year.
“In the current financial climate it is more important than ever to attract shoppers and visitors to our town centres.”
People are being advised to arrive early. The town’s car parks are clearly signposted and all council car parks and metered street parking is free on Saturdays.
