School achievements celebrated

Date published: 05 November 2011

A presentation evening has been held to celebrate the remarkable success of the students who left Wardle High School in the summer and to present them with their GCSE certificates.

The celebration event, at the Rochdale Town Hall, saw  Wardle High Schools Youth Band, who are National Champions, open  the evening with a programme of music that they are set to perform at The Music for Youth School Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday (9 November).

Student success stories include  Alex Johnston who won the Rotary Shield for his community work.

Abbie Ashton won an award for her exceptional 100 per cent attendance throughout her whole school career.

Each subject area had their own award and all students were able to collect their GCSE certificates on the evening and celebrate the occasion with family and friends.

Multiple award winners included Michael Eaton, Camilla Williamson and Kyle Harrison.

Director of Performing Arts, Mrs Emsley, was the compere for the evening and there were several speeches including those from Mrs Hope, Head of Year 11, and last year’s Head Students, Tom Dwelly and Katie Brown.

The awards came to a close with the Victor and Victress Loudorem Awards which were awarded to Alex Johnston and Helen Rose for the most outstanding boy and girl pupil in their senior year of compulsory education.
