Fire Service pushes Bonfire Night safety messages

Bonfire
Have a happy, safe, bonfire night is the message that Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) is sending out ahead of this weekend’s bonfire and firework fun.
The Service is expected to experience one of its busiest Bonfire Nights in years with 5 November falling on a Saturday.
Councillor David Acton, Chair of Greater Manchester Fire Authority, said: “It can be fun celebrating bonfire night but every year hundreds of people are taken to hospital with injuries involving fireworks and bonfires.
“We would urge people to visit the safe4autumn website to get some sensible safety messages about bonfires and fireworks, ensure that they have a happy and safe bonfire night and also get a chance to win an iPad.”
Last year, GMFRS received 468 calls and attended 327 incidents on 5 November.
