Fire chief made Deputy Lieutenant

CFO Steve McGuirk
County Fire Officer and Chief Executive (CFO) Steve McGuirk has been made a Deputy Lieutenant by the Queen’s personal representative in Greater Manchester.
Warren Smith, The Lord Lieutenant, has appointed four new deputies including the CFO of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to help him carry out his tasks.
The new title means the CFO will help to encourage and develop the civic community of Greater Manchester. Speaking after hearing of his appointment he said: ‘’It came as a bolt out of the blue, I am really thrilled. It’s a great privilege and I look forward to supporting the Lord Lieutenant the best I can.’’
The CFO will be officially handed the honour next year.
