Saint Cuthbert High School
The Enterprise words of the week are, “Negotiating and Influencing” and the Year 7 pupils will also be concentrating on the Enterprise skill of “Communication.”
The start of this week saw a wonderful Primary Arts Festival in the College’s Sports Hall.
It was opened up by the College’s steel pan band followed by songs from the cast of the College’s forthcoming show, West Side Story and an outstanding solo performance from Jessica Wiehler.
The following schools took part:
Holy Family RC Primary School performed: “Go Mistletoe Go” and “Snow White Scheme” from Roald Dahl’s Snow White.
Sacred Heart RC Primary School read the following poems “Remember Me” and “Jessie Js “Who’s laughing.”
St Gabriel’s RC Primary School performed a beautiful piece of Choral speaking entitled, “Brother Eagle Sister Sky.”
St John’s RC Primary School signed and sung; “Imagine” and “So Great.”
St Mary’s RC Primary School performed a selection of “Pop Songs.”
St Patrick’s RC Primary School performed a celebration movement and song based on the forth coming Olympics.
Alice Ingham RC Primary School performed a wonderful piece of music called “We speak no Americano” accompanied by sticks.
St Vincent RC Primary School choir sang: “Give us Hope” and “Something Strong Inside.”
To end this magnificent show all of the Primary schools joined together to sing, “Believe” and “We are the Young.”
Year 7 News:
The attendance challenge was won this week by form 7.6 whose weekly attendance has been 99.3 per cent.
The "You have to be in to win" competition was won by Molly Chapman Forshaw. Well done to Molly and form 7.6.
The police and fire service presented the Year seven assembly this week it focused on keeping safe at Halloween and Bonfire night.
A little reminder about the Christmas appeal: Operation Christmas Child. Years seven and eight are making Christmas boxes as part of their Advent Charity work. The deadline for completed boxes is Friday 11th November; Collection from school is the week afterwards. Please do your best to support this charity.
A polite reminder to pupil’s and parents that mobile phones must be switched off throughout the school day. If phones are used in school they will be confiscated and only returned the next day when a note is received. Thank you for your support and co-operation on this matter.
The College has been visited by a Christian Rock Band, 12/24 this week that are performing their inspirational music and songs in all RE classes and assemblies.
