Unit 3 and 4 talking homework:
Please find some time to talk to your child/children about the following topic (meal times are ideal for this). This will be followed up in class during the following week: ‘If you take part in the Olympics what would you like to do?’.

Shawclough Nursery:
We now have afternoon places available in our school nursery for children to start in January 2012. If your child was born between 1st September 2008 and 31 December 2008 please contact the school office for an application form.

High school applications:
I have been asked by the Local Authority to remind parents that the deadline for High School applications is the 21 October 2011. If you have any queries about the secondary transfer procedure, or completing the application, please contact Pupil Services at Rochdale MBC telephone no: 01706 925982.

Holidays:
Just a reminder that school closes at 3.15 p.m. on Friday, 21st October and re-opens on Monday, 31st October 2011.

Class boxes:
I have organised a system in school where all monies, letters etc can be placed in the ‘class box’ – there is a box in every class, including Nursery. This ensures that monies, etc can be easily and safely taken down to the school office. If you have any letters or money for school please place these in the class box each morning.

Outdoor coats:
It is vital that all children now have an outdoor coat in school during winter. Please ensure that your child has a coat to wear during morning and lunchtime playtimes and that the coat is labelled with their name.

Dogs on site:
Please can I remind you that dogs should not be entering the school site and should not be off their leads. Thank you.

Appointments:
Can I please request that any non-urgent dental, doctors appointments are made outside of the school day to avoid disruption to your child’s learning in school. Thank you for your support.
