Council documents found scattered in the street
Date published: 10 October 2011
Scores of council documents containing personal information have been found scattered in the street.
The papers, which included lists of names, addresses and phone numbers as well as political papers were discovered by football fans making their way to Rochdale’s home match against Wycombe on Saturday 1 October.
The documents were found around Mellor Street and Spotland Bridge and reported to Rochdale Council by a member of the public.
The Council has now launched an investigation to establish how the documents ended up there.
Dennis Pennill, Waste Manager at Rochdale Council, said: “The papers do not appear to be of a confidential nature. They have now been cleared and we will be investigating to establish how they came to be dropped. We also thank the member of the public who reported the issue.”
