The Walk to School is up and running. Children have to walk all or most of the journey to and from school at least three times a week, every week in October to earn a special WOW badge. The badges are special for each month, October is badminton, November is horse riding and December skiing. The teachers are keeping a record of children who have walked every morning at registration time.
Next week is a busy time for all of Key Stage 2: On Wednesday morning Year 5 will be walking down to Touchstones for an Ancient Greek Life workshop and Year 6 will be taking part in the same workshop in the afternoon. As stated, the children will be walking there and back so please censure they have the appropriate outer clothing and footwear. If the weather is very wet the children will catch the bus home so they will need 90p bus fare just in case.
On Thursday afternoon Years 3 and 4 are taking part in a Helen O’Grady Workshop.
Next week is the Harvest Festival in aid of the Manchester Women and Children Refuge. Many parents have already sent in tins of fruit and soup. Next week we are collecting tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Times are hard at the moment but we would like to make a significant contribution to this essential service. Please raid your cupboards to help us make a huge gesture to the charity.
Wednesday immediately after school Mrs Collinge and her team are holding another parents workshop – this time on Maths.
Thursday and Friday are Reception Class Parents Evenings; 3.15pm until 5.45pm. Letters will be sent out in due course.
Well done to the children who were presented with the Achievement Award last Friday:

Prior warning from the School Council who want the non uniform day on 21 October to be National Heroes Day rather than ‘pink day’ They are keen to promote this themselves and will be talking to the children about what they can do to support.
The closing date for secondary schools transfer is Friday 21 October. All parents have received a letter with a unique reference number and a letter instructing how this process has to be completed on line.
Reception 2012 intake is also an electronic application. The school does not have any application forms to hand out and parents now have to apply on www.rochdale.gov.uk/schooladmissions
