Kirkholt Bowling Club has marked the end of this year’s season with a presentation to recognise the bowlers who have fared the best over the playing period.
This year the club has performed well in the D Division of the Rochdale men’s league, and has continued to have a very active women’s and junior side in their respective leagues.
Club President Pete Metcalf, said: “The presentation marked the end of the bowling season and although in once sense it is quite a sad occasion, in another it allows us to acknowledge the contribution of so many individuals to the club over the summer.
"We now look forward to next season, and we are already planning to hold a special curtain raiser to mark the season's start in April.
“Hopefully anyone reading this may want to try their luck, and we welcome anyone to come and have a go at bowling at the club."
One of the winners on the day was John McGarry who was awarded the President’s Trophy.
Kirkholt Councillor Dale Mulgrew attended the presentation and handed out the awards. He said: “I was delighted to attend this end of season presentation as the bowling club is a great club and is one of the most active in the local community.
"One of the really noticeable qualities of the club is the family atmosphere. This means there is always a very hospitable and welcoming environment, enabling the club to attract players from across the age ranges."
