Does your child have additional needs?
From time to time all of us have the need for extra support. In school we usually know when this is the case for academic work because we are continually assessing the children. We also are aware when children have special educational needs. However, I am aware there may be other things that happen to the children which may need extra care but about which we are not aware. Please contact school if there are times when you think your child needs something extra will we do our very best to organise the support needed.

Thrum Hall Church car park:
A polite request for users of Thrum Hall Car Park from Margaret Smith, School Governor:
Parents are welcome to use the car park EXCEPT:
NO parking in the reserved Ministers space
NO parking in front of the Church steps
NO parking on the entrance curve
NO parking on the right hand side as you enter the top car park.
Thank you.

Storyteller at Champness Hall:
Join storyteller Bob Hartman at Champness Hall, Rochdale on Saturday 5 November at 2.00 pm for an afternoon show of storytelling and song. Entrance is free.

What to do if your child is unwell:
Please, please telephone school on 01706 647991 before 9.30 am. to advise us if your child is poorly. You can leave a message on the answerphone at any time of day or night. Our prime consideration is the welfare of our children and we have to account for their whereabouts during school hours. Thank you for your support.

Does your child have an appointment of will they be absent?
If so we have a supply of standard letters available in the dispenser in the main entrance – please complete the necessary form and place in the box in your child’s class. Thank you.

Tea time club:
If your child is going to Tea Time Club can you please let them know this before they come to school in the morning. We are having a lot of calls from parents at the end of the school day and are finding it difficult to get the messages to class in time before the end of day bell. We fully understand there will be last minute problems but would ask those parents who do know in advance that their child is going to Tea Time Club to inform their child at the beginning of the day about this.

Unit three and four talking homework:
Please find some time to talk to your child/children about the following topic (meal times are ideal for this). This will be followed up in class during the following week: ‘The best friend you have ever had’.

Harvest:
School is supporting Thrum Hall Church Harvest project which will benefit Gabriel Court, a local mother and baby unit. You will receive a YMCA bag into which you can place clothes, shoes, bric-a-brac, videos, DVD’s, games, toys and kitchenware. School and the Church will receive £1 for each filled bag. All the money will be used to support this very worthy cause. Filled bags must be returned to school before Monday, 17 October.

Walk to school week:
Next week we are organising a Walk to School Week. The children who walk to school will be able to collect stickers and at the end of the week they will receive a small prize. If you can’t walk the whole way perhaps you could park on Whitworth Road or Shawclough Road.
