Fire-fighters rescue boy after roof fall
Date published: 03 October 2011
A twelve-year-old boy has had a lucky escape after falling through the skylight of a building in Rochdale.
Fire-fighters were called to Castlemere Street at around 2.50pm on Sunday (2 October).
Crews were told the boy had been jumping on a skylight of a single storey building because it was springy, before it gave way and he fell to the floor below, landing on his back.
Crew Manager, Derek Pritchard, said: "He was very, very lucky. We used a ladder to reach the boy, a trauma technician assessed him and he was placed on a spine board. All the doors were locked externally and internally, so we hauled him up through the roof.”
