Trio charged after massive drugs haul

Three people have been charged after more than £750,000 worth of Class A drugs were seized by officers in Rochdale.

Aadil Ahmed, 29 , of Sparthfield Avenue, Rochdale is charged with two counts of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and three counts of offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).

Aneela Ahmed, 27, of Sparthfield Avenue, Rochdale, is charged with two counts of offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Grant Hartley, 29, of Stoneyvale Court, Rochdale, is charged with two counts of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and dangerous driving.

All three are due before Rochdale Magistrates' Court on 10 October 2011.

The first recovery of drugs was made by officers from the Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team from a house on Carfax Fold in Norden on 29 January 2010 which yielded four kilos of heroin with a potential street value of around £751,000.

The investigation was then taken over by the Rochdale Drugs and Money Laundering Unit and a further £679 worth of cocaine and heroin was recovered. It is estimated the recovery could have provided more than 75,000 individual deals.
