St Edwards C of E Primary School
Swimming Training:
Year 5/6 swimming training is on Friday mornings. Please be at Castleton baths by 8.30am.
Reception, Yrs 1 & 2:
Your child will have received the latest edition of the Book Club Catalogue. Any orders need to be returned to school by Friday 7th October. Thank you.
Eco-Club:
Eco-Club is on every Wednesday 3.20-4.15pm. Any children in Years 4,5 or 6 who are interested need to get a permission letter from Miss. Petrie.
Year 6 Trip:
On Tuesday 4 October, our Year 6 children are going on a trip to Manchester City Art Gallery.
Morrison’s Vouchers:
Well are now collecting the ‘Lets Grow’ vouchers from Morrisons.
Cookery Club:
Cookery Club will be starting after half term and will run in blocks of six weeks. This is open to children from Years 1-6 and their parents. If your child is interested, please fill in the slip on the back of the newsletter and return it to school as soon as possible as places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Your child will receive a letter if they are given a place.
Music Lessons:
Please ensure your children bring their musical instruments in each week as lessons will still be charged for.
Fees for this half term are now due. Lessons are now £2.85 per week. Any outstanding music fees in order for lessons to continue.

Contact Forms:
Please send these into school as soon as possible. We need these forms so we can contact parents in case of an emergency.
Text Messaging Service:
We are continuing to use our text messaging service and in some cases, instead of sending letters out. Therefore it is extremely important that you ensure you keep school up-to-date with any change in mobile phone numbers.
Eco News:
We have had a visit from some children and staff from St. Peters to look round our grounds and to meet with our eco-committee. On 13 October 15 schools from all over the country will be attending an open day. We will be sharing our expertise and knowledge about sustainability.
Harvest Festival:
Our Harvest service will be at St. Martin’s Church at 2pm on Tuesday 11 October. Can children please bring in tins or packed food which will collected and given to PETRUS which is a charity for homeless people in Rochdale. Thank you.
Dinner Money:
Lunches are now £1.80 per day - £9.00 per week and should be paid on a Monday morning. Please send dinner money in an envelope with your child’s name and class on.
There is a copy of the menus on our school portal. Next week we are on Week 2.
Castleton Children’s Centre:
The free ‘Stay and Play Sessions’ are here at St. Edward’s on Wednesday mornings 9.15am-10.30am. There will be coffee served in the community room for anyone who wants to stay when they drop their child off at school, until the session starts at 9.15am.
Friends of St. Edward’s (PTA):
Our next meeting is on Monday 3 October at 6.30pm in the staff room. This will also be our Annual General Meeting. We would welcome any new parents, grandparents, etc. We need nominations for Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Please come along and help us organise events to help raise extra money for the benefit of all children.

Our Open Days for parents of children starting school in September 2012 are next
Wednesday 5 October at 2pm and Monday 10th October at 11am.
