Falinge Park High School
Art work from Year 9 student Jessica Berry has been chosen to be displayed in the Wheatsheaf Library in Rochdale. A competition was open to pupils from Falinge Park to design a board to advertise the graphic novel section of the library. Her A4 design was chosen and will be enlarged to fill one of the display boards in the library. Well done Jessica.
Copies of the latest Arts College newsletter were released this week to all pupils. If you would like to receive a colour copy then a digital copy can be obtained from the school website.
Many thanks to parents, friends and families who kindly donated newspapers to school for the CEPA Faculty. We continue to need a regular supply for Art and Technical Theatre classes and welcome all donations. Please send them directly into school for the attention of Simon DeCourcey.
Last week we saw the launch of our ‘Moment on Stage’ competition which is open to all years. Entry forms are available from the CEPA office. The competition closes mid October. Please ensure that completed forms are returned to Mr DeCourcey. There are three great prizes for the best three entries.
Well done to our 16 Year 8 pupils who participated in our CEPA Learning Champion training last Thursday. The pupils participated in a two hour training session after school which included sessions on Health and Safety, leading small groups, careers in the Arts and Arts leadership. The trained pupils each received a special badge and certificate and will be working with staff and other pupils very shortly.
Our music lessons are now fully up and running and we ask that learners regularly check the music timetable board at the top of the Library staircase to ensure that they do not miss lessons. We are fortunate that FPHS is one of a few schools in the borough that offers free music lessons but we appreciate prompt and regular attendance. Please make sure that you do not miss out.
Auditions for our school pantomime ‘Sleeping Beauty’ take place this week at lunchtimes in the hall. As a result, Film Club will now run in F5. If you would like to be involved, either on stage or in a technical capacity then please see Mr Mvula as soon as possible. Tickets for the panto are £3.50 for individuals and £12.00 for a family of four. No Concessions. Tickets are available from the CEPA office.
We look forward to receiving all our Year 6 learners from a wide range of schools this Monday as we open our doors for the annual Open Day and Evening. Pupils will experience a wide range of exciting lessons and activities and we welcome visitors to our school from 6.45pm until 9.00pm.
Many thanks to the BTEC National Drama Learners of Oldham College who came into school this week to perform to our Year 11 learners. The performance was followed by a series of workshops which looked at career pathways and job opportunities through further and higher education.
