Brothers’ lucky escape after fire
Date published: 27 September 2011
Two men had a lucky escape last night (26 September) after a fire broke out in an attic room at their house on Dunster Avenue in Rochdale.
Fire-fighters from Rochdale, Heywood and Littleborough were called to the house just before 9.00pm to reports of a man still inside. On arrival fire crews wearing breathing apparatus searched the property but didn't find anyone inside.
Two brothers aged 45 and 30 later presented themselves to paramedics at the scene suffering from the effects of smoke - both men had self rescued prior to the arrival of the fire-fighters.
There was 100 per cent damage to the bedroom in the attic of the terraced house - the cause of the fire was accidental due to an electrical fault.
